Weird hair color, and the shirt and suspenders look is just sloppy looking in a non-fashionable way, like someone trying overly hard to be trendy (although he’s done that before anyway). The beard is just too short to look good. I mean he’s still attractive but makes poor style choices these days. I don’t mind that he doesn’t look like a child anymore, and I’ve always loved the eyebrows, but he seems to be trying too hard to make the point that he’s not a boy anymore.
Plus, he’s not doing anything to put to rest rumors of him being gay. The beard alone screams it out loud. (Pun intended. :-))
All I really care about though is that they’ve done pretty much nothing for two years. A couple of special new songs, and a greatest hits album that doesn’t really count as “fresh”, and then a bunch of just doing celebrity stuff. And stupid web gimmicks and “pay money and we’ll make a mass recorded phone call to you” and texts and stuff.

Opinion, yes, I have one, as do you. Nobody’s perfect, including Bill, and there’s nothing wrong with pointing out things I don’t like about his style. That’s kind of the focus of the article, the changes in his style.
Being a rabid fan who can’t accept anything other than unconditional approval of the man is no better than my opinions.

I really don’t know why but the band tokio hotel has always annoyed me :D I find it really hard to take the band and its members seriously nowadays because it was a HUGE thing here in Finland a few years ago and most of the people who was hyped it all day all night was 10-12 years-old girls… :D It was irritating and hilarious at the same time :D

Indelible icon? Not if they don’t produce anything soon and work on appealing to more than small groups. Being fashionable isn’t a sustaining quality. They don’t have the “aw, look at that, so young and so talented” thing working anymore which helped get headlines (it can’t be denied that it was part of the furor) and being in the news just because you cut your hair doesn’t last long.
I do think they’re talented, I love their music. But it’s been two years since there’s been anything significant. The fans up to this point will soon be growing beyond the age that they just follow Bill because he’s Bill. Even if it’s not as a band, if the individuals produce something significant they might last, but not as things stand now. People will get bored eventually.
I don’t even have any idea what mysticism, nobility or tragic destiny have to do with the band.

First off they been a band for quite a while now and even have a ‘best of’ out, so i think its appropriate they take some time off !, plus they just did some big shows in japan and russia. they are not a rock band that do it cause they have too many tatoos now and its now a matter of meeting the record lables dead lines, they do it cause its feels right. LOOK , they have broke the glass celing and have enough work, where they dont have to play by the rules anymore, they dont have to be “relevant” to the ever changing pop scene. they have life long fans across the world who will wait for the band to be ready

Yes he did. Remember the Jonas morons? Tokio Hotel is in the same tier as those guys… I will exercise my right to degrade the so called fanbases you’re talking about. The kind of obsessive otakus and stupid youngsters that don’t do anything else than living under a rock, that is part of this band’s fanbase… I wouldn’t consider it respectable at all.
Also, the Germanic Spirit of Mysticism is the biggest load of bollocks I’ve heard so far. The Germanic land these guys come from, has raised many other bands that are more important and were influential inside German rock: Scorpions, BAP, Amon Duul II, Einstürzende Neubauten… All those bands were prior to this eclosion of “artists” who haven’t upped the ante or kept up the musical brilliance of German rock, such as Rammstein and this very band you happen to defend.

Yes, I do care about rock music and the need to keep it clean. Rock is the only genre in which I’ve seen musicians communicate what they feel, from an anecdote or a dream, to random thoughts they have in their heads.
The platform you talk about is what probably your whiney band (the one with the brat displayed in the picture above me) does, don’t make it general, because rock music has evolved in the way of what are the intentions of the bands and solo artists who comprise it. Maybe you don’t care about American rock, neither do I (in fact, it’s inferior to UK’s rock music in any sense), but I do care about what artists are in the genre. Many bands have bastardized it, and I’m not talking just about mainstream bands, others as well. I care for German rock because, as well as British rock, it’s one of the most important sub-genres in rock music. And to see many old bands who were and still are legendary be eclipsed by trendy lads with nothing to do in the music industry is somewhat insulting in every sense.
You know why I won’t do a documentary about rock music? Easy, I do not have access to most of the research material I might need to do so, and neither do I have money to finance such a project.
