Catholics ban Pro-Marriage Politicians
You can tell that Catholic priests aren’t parents. Their only form of expressing disapproval seems to be severe punishment. You can’t beat or shame children into good behaviour and it doesn’t work with adults either. Not only are the beliefs of Catholic leaders still stuck in the Middle Ages, but their leadership style seems to still be glued there too.
Every time the Catholic church doesn’t get their way, they automatically resort to the "We will punish you" line of thinking. Say the Earth is round? Excommunicated. Pass a non-discrimination law? Catholic charities will kill their adoption programs and force hundreds of children to suffer because of politicians working for a more fair society because they’d have to work with gay couples. Pass a marriage equality bill (with the help of some Republicans even)? Catholic leaders will ban you from their church and school events.
Religious leaders slammed the state’s new gay marriage law on Saturday, vowing to ban politicians who supported the measure from any Catholic church and parochial school events. Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio, of the diocese of Brooklyn, called on all Catholic schools to reject any honor bestowed upon them by Gov. Cuomo, who played a pivotal role in getting the bill passed. He further asked all pastors and principals to "not invite any state legislator to speak or be present at any parish or school celebration."
But fuck a bunch of kids entrusted to your care? That gets you a promotion. Cover up for the child molesters? You’re going all the way to Pope, baby.

The church is fastly becoming irrelevant. they have stepped away from their tenets and have become a political and profiteering entity. Religion still has value and worth but the church is no longer about the religion they supposedly represent. esp the catholic church.

No, it doesn’t. No one needs any religion as an excuse just to do good deeds. All religions are 100% pure garbage, particularly islam but any christianity is only second to them. Their only purpose is to control as many people as possible and to acquire as much wealth as it can — in that exact order. They will constantly lie, cheat and murder just to obtain those goals. Anyone who seriously thinks that religion is necessary is severely mentally challenged.

Yet Islam has this neat lil’ bit about it concerning how it’s actually ok to get to know God’s creation. (I’ve only recently looked at islam, The general topic list is actually very open until you start examining the specific rules for interactions between individuals.)
Truth be told, the individual ‘selling’ the religion was the most polite person I have come across so far.

It seems you know nothing about Aquinas and Suares, Grotius and Lord Acton, Tolstoy and M.L.King. And, of course, you know nothing about my best friend, a very religious guy who gave me more understanding about freedom, tolerance, cooperation, and independence than all liberals combine? If you knew exactly how wrong you are it would be enough of a shock to turn you straight.
If you truly knew the Catholic Church you would realize that it has grown in faith faith over time and has lessened in corruption and “political agenda”.
Everything about the Church still has everything to do with its “religion”. Or else it would not exist.

I’ve maintained for years that the Catholic church should come under the RICO Act – “The Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (commonly referred to as RICO Act or RICO) is a United States federal law that provides for extended criminal penalties and a civil cause of action for acts performed as part of an ongoing criminal organization. The RICO Act focuses specifically on racketeering, and it allows for the leaders of a syndicate to be tried for the crimes which they ordered others to do or assisted them, closing a perceived loophole that allowed someone who told a man to, for example, murder, to be exempt from the trial because they did not actually do it.”

Hhmmm… so let me see if I understand this correctly…..
They don’t like the way politics of an area are going, so they’re going to harm themselves (by passing on potential free publicity they’d get from being “honored”) and they’re going to hold back the children in their care (by denying them the chances to see how elected officials work), but I seriously doubt they’re going to be harming the politicians much even though 42% of New Yorkers claim to be catholic .
I doubt 10% of them could recall the last time they went to church and most politicians are focusing on getting other demographics anyway.

Religion in itself is not bad. Many religions including Islam and Christianity are an excellent guideline to living with others.
However.. It is the interpretation of that religion that brings out the evil and intolerance in people. To choose one line out of a whole converation and use that to justify hatred is the true evil.
