The other day the idea of a photo theme day for posh lads came up in the chat. “Majestic Monday” sounds a bit too porny, so we settled for Snobby Saturday. This is in no way meant as an insult so if you’re fanboying/girling over one the guys featured under that category… calm your panties More >

Excellent… I mean especially to practice and improve my oral understanding of english language ;-). But it’s hard to understand both words, sentences AND the meaning of a whole philosophical speech about free will and so lol.

I already had him on my subscriptions :)
Very smart and creative boy. And with awesome music taste :P

Amusing dissertation to say the least, lol. I enjoyed it, especially your differentiation between guinea pig & “guinea pig”, lol. Nice.
As for the invitation to suck your golden pubes if I argued with your point of logic, I would gladly differ with you in order to accept the invitation :-) although I must confess that I would probably get distracted from the pubes….
Keep up the good work, it was pretty cool.

So is this The Architect when he was 12?

Wah, sorry, but as funny as this is, his views are utter nonsense in my opinion >can< make own decisions regarding general views – even if they might be influenced partially. But the more you actually selfreflect and know, the more you can beat the factors that might be able to determine your actions. Frankfurt called those “second order volutions” and I really liked his construct…
His eager views on determinism only shows, that he’s still very young
” But I would recommend him to read a few things by Frankfurt or Hampshire
! I found their views on determinism and free will very refreshing and interesting

What a smoking pile of bullshit. He makes the argument that everything is related to something in one way or another, yet refuses to acknowledge the fact that randomness is related to perception and personal experiences.
Of course there is a cause when I get hit by a bus. Does that mean it’s predetermined or not random?
All boils down to being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Actions and perception of events being related to experience isn’t a new concept.
He sure likes to hear himself talk though.

Too old, too full of himself, no logic, boring.

First – Olivier, it works (but, I’m only an American… ;-)
This guy is great! Give me anyone of any age that thinks about this stuff! He may be full of himself, but he is engaged; would a lot more of us were. My hope is that it is ‘determined’ he will go on into Philosophy, we need the next major paradigm of reason to come along. He may be working under ‘the great pool table’ model of the universe (e.g., if you had enough data on everything present just prior to the big bang you could predict how everything would react once set in motion, including getting hit by a bus) now, but he does not seem like the kind content with lack of freedom. Though like a lot of us he seems to be looking for what is 100% real… (Good luck)
For me fun in life does come from not being asleep at the switch, feeling like I do have choice. So while ‘I think, therefore I am,’ I also know that I ‘don’t know.’
You can find two more of his vids on this site; look back 35 pages from here. They are on more down to earth, near and dear subjects to Milkboys fans.
Josh, thank you for boys with brains! A heady combination.

Cute, but he doesn’t know much about Quantum Mechanics. He seems to be going by what people told him it does and it means, rather than by the experimental data and the math. If he boned up on that (ha ha ha) he wouldn’t be quite so certain that there wasn’t a lot of randomness going on. His view of physics is very Newtonian. Of course, it’s a huge mistake to apply what happens at the Quantum level to what happens at our level, but here I defer to GaruruChan and his worthy recommendation of Professor Harry Frankfurt.

He doesn’t blink because he believes it makes him appear more intense. He is forced into this decision by intellectual pressure by his critics. No free will involved.

“His view of physics is very Newtonian”
That´s true. Very oldschool and not up to date. I would recommend the book “Komplexitäten: Warum wir erst anfangen die Welt zu verstehen” (upcoming english version: “Beyond Simplicity: Integrating Knowledge in a Complex World”) by Sandra Mitchell to him.

With all due respect, and I mean that most sincerely, some of you guys perhaps missed the point that all this cute boy wanted was to get noticed. Yeah, he used what could easily be termed as a highly controversial subject about which he could definitely learn more, I agree totally. Couldn’t we all? Yup.
So what was his point?
My theory: he knows he’s blonde, attractive, outgoing, and perhaps interesting – and all he wanted to do was get noticed, talked about, and have fun.
And, lol, he most assuredly did that! I, my fellow bloggers, most definitely noticed the boy (as opposed to his dissertation) as the important point (altho’ I definitely enjoyed his view of the subject matter).
Kudo’s to you my young friend on a job well done!
More, please :-)
