    People with black or brown hair aren’t historically bullied due to their hair colour. Only 3% of people have ginger hair (In Britain at least) and so the appearance of a ginger guy in this poster seems more than coincidence.

Where I’ve grown up, not since the late 1950s or very early 60s.

We just called them “butts” (as in the “end” of the cigarette). But, that’s just as funny and rather stupid as calling them “fags.” Since the filter part (or if non-filtered) is where you put your mouth to suck in and breathe, think of the implication of sucking on all those “butts.” For those who like to use bad words for homosexuals/gays, it’s a bit like those words come back to bite the straights on their own asses (and not mules).

I started smoking when I was about 13 years old. I would [borrow] my fathers Pall Mall cigarettes. He would tell me to make sure my butt was out before throwing it out. All through my time in the service you where told to field strip your BUTTS. Now I know there where times that a cigarette butt wasn’t the butt I wanted to strip. I quite smoking about 25 years ago, but still hang around with friends who smoke. They also call these ends of a cigarette a butt. I think these is bullshit, but that boy sure is cute.

To all those that need some skooling here…….In parts of Europe cigarettes of any length are still called “Fags” if these posters originated in Europe it was THERE proper use of the word for the butt. In an American dictionary a “FAG” is described as a bundle of sticks tied together. wordage all depends on what country a person is from and in most cases what part of the country a person is from. How many dialects are there in the USA alone?

Sometimes I call things gay. Its kinda meant to be ironic though, and certainly is understood that way to the people I’m with. Like, it’s supposed to be silly in the way that you might say “this inanimate object has homosexual tendencies.” Do we need to stop doing this. My friends also call me ‘gayyyy’ and i certainly don’t mind. It is always in fun (and is true besides :) ).

But I don’t want to propagate “violent” language . I guess in my mind I can argue it is more like neutralising it by making fun of how silly it is and celebrating the gayness of random objects.

What do you guys think?
