So hizzoner Judge Shubb states in his opinion that removal of gay reparative therapies is not based on strictly controlled studies and scientific scrutiny, and therefore must be allowed to continue? Oy veh! Somebody sit this person down and school him on what constitutes scientific proof. The burden is not to prove that Gay Reparative Therapy “doesn’t” work, but whether or not it does work. There is more than ample study and evidence that it does far more harm than good.

The burden of proof is not that [god/religion] is false, but whether or not [god/religion] is the truth. And that’s what all this bullshit is based on.

I put myself through a form of gay reparative therapy (a self punishment form of paranoia). In other words I joined the army in order to become a “real man” and I even tried to pray away the gay. I really worked at it and even believed I was making progress as I was actually bisexual but it took awhile to figure that out. For the rest of my young adult life I denied my same sex attraction. Now I am left with a gaping hole in my soul that will never be filled.

Most of us Vietnam vets were 18 and 19 years old and basically we were just kids. So much grab ass going on constantly. I was hit on a lot. I could and should have had a lot of fun and there was no shortage of cute effeminate guys which were/are my type. But I was in a religious mode at the time and tried to prey away my temptation. What a fucking waste.
You should have enlisted. That is where all the action is.

I knew a guy who served in Vietnam and loved it. Lots of beautiful young Vietnamese boys he was having fun with. He said it was the best part of his life. He wasn’t interested in the other soldiers.

I was amazed at how common same sex relationships were in Vietnam. That was a strange experience for me at the age of 19 back in 1967.

Hi Bruce, I just read a book called “Colonialism and Homosexuality” by Robert Aldrich. He quotes a French Naval doctor who was shocked (shocked, truly shocked?) that in the 1860s homosexuality appeared endemic in Cochin-China. He wrote “the Annamite is a pederast because he is lascivious. Here is a sophisticated old race, which was already corrupted… (Pederasty) is an innate stigma, which the Europeans discovered in full bloom and from which a few (a small number, let us hope) have profited”. Judging by your comments, not much changed in a hundred years. You should write down your stories, some historian (like Aldrich) will find them a goldmine!
