Good Weather for Airstrikes
I didn’t post this video before because I assumed that more people didn’t see Titanic than this. But you guys kept mailing me about it so there you go: Viðrar vel til loftárása by Sigur Rós.

This was extremely emotional. I must admit I had a few tears though I am not sure just why. I have had my schoolboy crushes which I kept to myself for the very reasons depicted in this beautiful film. The blone boy congers up many thoughts for me. For me it was always the blonde boy. Somehow I knew what it meant to be in love when I was 8 years old.

Another typical case of a controlling insecure father trying to influence the future direction of his son to fit his own image. Oh…or is that just me.
I’ll just bet that most of us on this site had a father who was controlling, insecure, neglectful or hateful.
nope, my father is great really.

nope. but a mother who was dominant and still thinks her opinion is the only right one.

I remember seeing this 2-3 years ago. It’s just as powerful now as it was then (maybe even more so). One of the most significant images of this video is of the bible [falling to the ground, but I would prefer seeing it being tossed into a roaring fire] — clearly demonstrating how this idiotic religion is the source of all this type of hate of homosexuals or anything related to it (and all of them are so quick to chant the bullshit that “[he] loves all of us”).
You stated the obvious. That book, or at least the interpretations of it destroyed my young life.

@PenboyX
I am saddened that you have apparently not had any positive, authentic encounters with true followers of Christ. Like many religions, there are many who use parts of the Christian Bible to narrowly (parochially) define their definition of God and what God wants others to be like. Unfortunately, the people whose misinterpretations and beliefs tend to get noticed most are those who, as with other religions, are what are commonly known as religious extremists. They were called Pharisees, Sadducees, zealots, and hypocrites. Jesus Christ spoke of them and to them often. It is up to us to spread the love and end the hate no matter what our religious or spiritual beliefs.
Please check out this website if you are interested in finding out more about what Jesus Christ had to say… : http://www.christiangays.com/

First of all, I don’t believe any of it. Until I see anything even remotely resembling any LOGICAL, SCIENTIFIC and COMMON SENSE proof of anything of that fictional book, then all your preaching is nothing but crap going down the drain. None of you “believers” will ever put even the slightest dent into my psyche. And for each and every “tidbit” you try to offer as “proof,” I and others can point out THOUSANDS to you that PROVE what you say is just BULLSHIT.
You “jesus believers” should instead use your “preaching skills” to try to reverse your brainwashing of good people (ESPECIALLY THE VERY YOUNG) and instead try to convert the obvious and pathetic extremists — not us, who prefer to believe in LOGIC, SCIENCE and COMMON SENSE.
I have absolutely no interest in going to that or any other sites who wish nothing more than brainwashing of any of their crap just so they can reap $$$ and even more “power” over their “followers.”
@PenboyX
I am not sure to which “preaching” you are referring. Please check my previous post and let me know where it was.
BTW: I have been a follower of Christ for over forty-five years; I have been in a loving, caring, gay, Christian marriage with the love of my life for over twenty-five years (and yes, we are both male); and I have been “openly gay” (whatever that truly means… LOL) for over twenty years.
I love the way that the video shows how the kids love each other no matter what, just like my hubby and me.
Hope to hear from you (and others)!

“I am not sure to which ‘preaching’ you are referring.”: … “I am saddened that you … authentic encounters with true followers of Christ … define their definition of God and what God wants others to be like … people whose misinterpretations and beliefs … Jesus Christ spoke of them and to them often. It is up to us to spread the love and end the hate … Please check out this website if you are interested in finding out more about what Jesus Christ had to say”
ALL OF THAT IS PREACHING. I know what preaching is — I was forced to go to catholic and baptist/southern baptist churches AD NAUSEUM all through my growing up life until I finally graduated. The “catchwords” are all the same. Of course, you will be quick to think & respond that “of course you’re not preaching” — because all of you are so fucking brainwashed by now that you no longer have any idea what preaching really is as all of you are bred up thinking that you are just “passing the word and love” (and other such bullshit as that). And I didn’t need to know how long you’ve been this way (although you just confirmed it to me by stating at least 45 years) — and by being at this site, I already assumed you to be gay — regardless of whether you have a lover or not. What ALL of you “believers” cannot ever grasp is this: YOU ALWAYS FAIL EVEN SMALL ATTEMPTS TO SEE YOURSELVES FROM “OUTSIDE THAT RELIGIOUS BOX” through the way common-sense non-believers do.
As far as the video is concerned, I already stated that I enjoy it very much — I was just pointing out the symbolism of that bible (as was his purpose, I’m pretty sure, of putting it in the video in the first place). This video is very powerful by showing all the HATEFUL ELEMENTS that those boys (and most boys, some of whom are not even “gay”) endured until it shows that they had enough of that hateful crap and decided very boldly to show each other and whoever was watching just how much they like each other and desire their companionship.
Re-read (particularly the emphasized part) my post about the legal lawsuit. That guy perfectly said what all you religious types try to do and won’t rest until you think you’ve converted as many as you can.

Court Tosses Free-Speech Challenge to Sexual Harassment Policy
By STEVEN M. ELLIS, Staff Writer
The Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Friday threw out a challenge to the Los Angeles Community College District’s sexual harassment policy by a student who said his professor interrupted his speech against same-sex marriage during a public speaking class and called him a “fascist bastard.”
Los Angeles City College student Jonathan Lopez lacked standing to pursue his claim that the policy violated the First Amendment where he failed to show that his intended speech on religious topics gave rise to a specific and credible threat of adverse action by college officials, a three-judge panel said.
Lopez is a self-described devout Christian who says he believes his faith requires him to share his religious beliefs with others. He had just defined marriage as being a union between a man and a woman and had quoted two Bible verses as part of a speech in November 2008, weeks after California voters approved Proposition 8 banning same-sex unions, when his professor, John Matteson, interrupted and refused to allow him to finish.
Matteson, Lopez said, later wrote on an evaluation form that Lopez could “[a]sk God what your grade is,” and threatened to have him expelled when the student complained to school administrators. The professor gave Lopez an “A” on a subsequent assignment when Lopez proposed exercising the right to free speech as a topic, but reminded Lopez that he had agreed to abide by the school’s Student Code of Conduct.

Take another look at what I emphasized (in bold). That is exactly what all you “believers” think you have to do and it’s been drummed into your heads and shoved down your throats since you were probably very young (10 yrs old? 8 yrs old? 6 yrs old?) PURE BRAINWASHING.

You forgot to highlight the word “self-described”. I can call myself chocolate pudding, but that does not make it so.
Your post actually supports my original post. Go back and read it again.

Good Heavens Josh!!! This was perhaps one of the most visually and metaphorically profound pieces that I’ve e-v-e-r seen. Absolutely stunning. Again, I know only you (if even that occurs) will see this, but I had to comment nonetheless.
Thank you, so much.

Yes, it says a lot without words.. the thing with the mutilated dolls is somewhat weird, but the look of hate on the father’s face is palpable, and the whole thing is a poignant plea for love and understanding in the face of stupid prejudice. The two boys are very bold to embrace and kiss so publicly (sure, they’re acting but it took plenty of courage to do that scene). Scandinavians show the way in being open-minded in their cinema.

This film is one of my favorites… the melancholy of the scenes, the old pier with the heavy industrial pipes, the father welding the family together under Heaven; the desire and hope for love controlled by society and discarded like dolls or puppets. Beaten for being different, sensual and gentler though no less hardy and competitive. Strength of the heart overcoming the rigidity of tradition and flying free no matter what happens. Their hearts are strong and have declared themselves free.

Sigur Ros did this one perfectly.
The music, direction, and cinematography are exceptionally well done to combine one of the most epic short music videos I can ever remember.
When the boys kiss after the big score, they’re minds wander to other places where they can frolic, be free, and the tongue kiss during this brief ecstatic moment is so erotic, and sensual.
Marvelous film making at it’s best.
I’ve been a fan of Sigur Ros ever since seeing this video a couple of years ago on MilkBoys Blog.
In many ways, I’d have loved to know how the boys eventually came out of that situation on the field where the Father violently pulls the blonde boy away from his friend.
I’ll never get tired of this film or Sigur Ros.
I agree, this was perfectly done in every detail.
Magnificently done, edited…adrift with symbolism. Nobody gay can watch this the first time without some pangs from childhood…..even if you never had the courage to do what these two boys did, you feel the power of it all.

I just LOVE this video. Watched it onde hugged with one of my best friends.
This music video is amazing!!! The fallen bible, the destroyed doll, the kissing scenes… and the music are just PERFECT.

I guess I’ve already seen it like a million time. And I’m always and always as much touched I could cry, Don’t even know if it’s more sad or joyful. It’s just BEAUTIFUL.
It’s both actually……with real heart (which you obviously have in abundance), your emotions are torn. That’s probably the actual power of this piece-no ‘happy ending’, but the eternal struggle for LGBTQI acceptance the world over. That’s all some of us ever have; little moments in time of pure same sex love & absolute joy.
Spoiler alert!!!
I read somewhere that one of the boys is really a girl; the producers were either forced to do it that way, or they decided to. Still, it’s a beautiful video musically and emotionally, makes me cry every time.
Where did you read that?
I actually recall seeing the same speculation on the internet somewhere (sorry Bruce, I don’t remember where) but the gist of the article that I read was that it was just that – speculation and never confirmed by anyone in the know.

Firstly Im a huge fan of the band, Sigur Ros, This video is a few years old now, I read somewhere the shorter darker haired actor was actually a girl. Ive watched this video so many times trying to see for sure. I cant tell but it lost abit of the message thinking its a female actor playing a young gay boy ?????
Oh no. It does look like “he” may be a girl. This completely changed how I view this video, after having seen it so many times.
Still love the look on the father’s face, though perhaps not as much as before.
I also heard that one of the actors was a girl.
The reason for this was that the boy was not comfortable doing a gay scene.

It’s only ok. I mean, I like the story well enough. But the relentless slow-motion was annoying after a while. I kept wanting to hit fast-forward.
