Husbands & Husbands
For this boy it was a simple step of logic. First, he admits he knew about husbands and wives but had never seen a husband and husband before. He says: "This is the very first time I’ve seen husbands and husbands." And then he draws his conclusion: "So that means you love each other." A logical conclusion, but one so many people seem to miss.

reminds me of this video:

God, this one is one is truly stupid. Do you seriously think that this kid has his his own viewpoints on gay marriage? Certainly not. Parents ramming messages about tolerance in their children’s throats are just as revolting as indoctrinating kids with religulous crap.
Everybody should have the right to find his own standpoints on certain topics without having to subconsciously copy the parents’ opinions, which this boy undoubtedly does.
Thing is, that age the age of 7, what kid is truly well informed and understanding of the complexities of the world enough to have his/her own view of the world. The standard pattern of development is to internalize and parrot back any viewpoints from your parents. People who become well rounded individuals later on in life can then assess those values and either accept or reject the ideals they present. Its up to the child as they develop to decide which lessons from childhood are worth keeping and which should be abandoned, and even that can be done in shades of grey. In the end its up to the individual, but that is part of the process of growing up and coming into your own as a person.

i´d rather tell my kids that the government should do something about gay marriage than religious crap. and by telling, i do not mean ramming something in their throats. i think at the age of 7 you don´t follow your parents opinions blind anymore. nobody asked me such things when i was seven, but i´m sure i would have said the same as this boy. my parents are against gay marriage btw.

Thankyou for hitting the point, J.
I remember myself visiting a friend of mine at about the same age. My friend´s father was an identical twin.
So I went home believing that my friend had two fathers.
Kids think in a more “superficial” or “obvious” way than we do later – you will realice that when doing some magic tricks for children.

i agree, that was just way too politically motivated

Both videos are great. It’s nice to see kids before they’re corrupted by the hatred spewed by some adults. If only we could remain as innocent (and wise, frankly).
I can’t see the first video.
The second one is nice – though something tells me his parents had a hand in what he was saying. Not quite the innocent pure and wholesome views we might think!

pics of little kids at demos creep me out most of the time. many of them seem to have aggressive lesbian mommies who use their kids as banner

The first video is private’ed.
It was so yesterday, after it was posted to BoingBoing, so I can only wonder why you posted it here still. Are you in the ‘private circle’ then?
It was uploaded by someone else, it was just made private a few minutes ago too.

@josh
since this is copied nearly 1:1 off boing boing, even the text’s content, you might want to *mention* the source.
which is: boingboing.net
Except Boing Boing wouldn’t be the original source either.
not the point:
boingboing does mention its source.
a simple “via X” is a matter of courtesy. by now, josh found some own words to the video – it would still be nice if the source was mentioned, but at least it isn’t boingboing.net’s commentary copied 1:1 anymore.
i don’t get why this is so hard.

Yeah, I love the first one much more. I mean, it’s great that the boy’s parents in the second one are raising him not to be bigoted, but the first is good for its spontaneity and how simple it all seems to him, how unphased he is. Even though he’s interested, he really cares more about his ping-pong.
Such cute little boys trying to understand complex adult concepts…they don’t see any connections to
Satan or Hell. Too bad seven out of eight of the above guys who made comments are such assholes!
I loved the first video. In the end he was more interested in playing ping pong than two guys loving eachother. That’s how it should be.

Sooo cute!

THIS IS FUCKING AWESOME. HE EVEN SAID THEY COULD PLAY WITH HIM! DEFFO NO PREJUDICE LURKING AROUND THAT AGE.

Many good posts here about the 1st and 2nd vid, Amerikun had a good view on the learning ability of kids, and their later ability to keep / discard information they develop.
I like both vids, but the 1st one was pretty cute, I must admit… :-)

first video is so authentic

The first video was great..out of the mouths of babes etc. It shows the pure innocence of chidren who never condemn but just accept the situation as it is.

Videos are great!
And, to the first commenter: yes, little children definitely have their own views. What you mean with “view” is something political. But children think (feel, actually) with their all existence, not only with their stupid reason and pubic regions.
Right? Yes.

Wow, they edited the hell out of that thing. I’m sure the raw footage tells a bit if a different story.
I bet you that they only edited the hell out of it because the kid, is that.. a YOUNG KID.
Probably went on rambling about nothing for ten minutes.

Calm down “noidea”!.
Btw,Josh, I pasted this video to my blog:http://koenski-beterweter.blogspot.com/.
It´s very re-assuring that there are free spririts in the making from da next generation!.
Great to see the boy´s facial expressions as he comes to grip with the “husband & husband” thing.

I think kids naturally aren’t colored by the vagaries of society if people .love each other they can be husbands/husbands I thought that since I was a kid and that has never changed, maybe if we were more bottom line and less complex dynamics the world would be a better place Kids tell it like it is, so should we and as for the guy who complained about the kids mirroring the parents views uh welcome to life and the way familys work, when he is older he will make his own decision, molding kids, THATS what parents DO ITS A NECESSARY AND IMPORTANT PART OF A FAMILY
about 3 years ago
Aww the first one was seriously cute.

it almost makes you hopeful for humanity

Well yes this is how an innocent would see things; however I doubt this is real. It could be and it would be nice if it were, but I doubt it. I think its staged for political reasons. I don’t think kids should be used like this from left, right or center. Its just wrong.
Why do you think this is staged? Not one thing about it makes it look staged. And you think it was staged for political reasons… okay, well find me an official political website or commercial that is using this “poorly made” video clip and perhaps then I’ll give you some credit.

AWWW I melted when he said “you can play if you want to!”
