My new Dress
I know it doesn’t really fit in here age-wise but it was way too cute to skip it. And it has an important message about gender clichés of course. Try to ignore the horrible subtitles, rather be thankful there are some; Spanish speaking people tend to believe everyone speaks their language conspicuously often

In the Animal Kingdom’s eternal Battle of The Sexes, we instinctively respond with suspicion and even hostility to a transvestite. At the tender age of these kids, the boys consider him a Quisling, and the girls feel invaded and think he’s a spy. Done as a gag or for entertainment, we can laugh and enjoy – but in the context of this film, it is considered outrageous. This boy’s curiosity for cross-dressing better stay in the closet before he gets himself killed. Sad, but that’s the world we live in.
Reminds me a bit of La Vie en Rose which was quite marvelous, although the boy was around 12. This had a lot to say about how the adults reacted to the situation, particularly the father. You’re left with the impression that he will be understanding about the situation rather than punishing.

Beautiful ! And his Father still loves him ! Thanks for posting that !

Hi, Thats was great to see, a father who understands, well done!!!!!, thanks for showing this/

Tjis was a very good short film. Especially how the dad seems to be acceptant of his sons cross-dressing, no matter hor much of a wrong impression it portrays of him, not to mention all the embarrassment and stress. It definately portrays the real world well.

yea that can happen… about the ppl who are Native Spanish Speakers… cuz well this type of short film is supposed to be made and showed in the Film Festivals that are Latin American kind and well if they are good enogh can be showed at the World wide spread dilm festivals… soo please understand us :)

I wasn’t talking about films so much actually.
It’s just that *every time* (and I mean in 100% of all cases) someone comments here in another language than English (which is the language of the blog) or German (which is my native language as most people know) it’s Spanish. Same story about mails. It’s like Spanish speaking people don’t give a shit if anyone understands them.
If there is a post with 30 English comments the Spanish guy would still comment in Spanish and assume that everyone has to understand him. It’s just a pretty annoying attitude.
I realise that Spanish is a language that millions of people in different countries speak but if you are on an English site or in an English community or mailing someone from such a site or community… why would you write in Spanish? That just seems extremely disrespectful to me.
English isn’t my native language either but, like it or not, it’s the language we settled with as the easiest way to communicate with people from all over the world.
(Disclaimer: That doesn’t apply to *all* Spanish speaking people of course and I know that some people do their best to speak English (like you Kat))

From your attitude. but mostly from the user name “truth”, I think you must be one of America’s worst scourges: a “Christian” fundamentalist. Please take your bigotry elsewhere.
Here in America, we are constantly bombarded with this kind of right wing vitriol. Milkboys is refreshingly free of it. Josh, if “truth” continues this type of posting, please consider kicking him or her off of the website.

hey!, We all are not the same, I’m glad you finally say it, but, GOSH!, you really really sound like if you just hate us just because we speak spanish….. I’m native in spanish, but I love english as well, and ok, there are people who don’t speak english that good in some countries, but I really know many of them who do their best,
So come on relax man, and well understand please we are all not the same…..

Well i’m Latin and i speak Spanish i can tell you from what i know is most Latin people write in websites like this in Spanish because they don’t like to write in an other language often we have problems learning other languages not because we cant learn them but because we have been force to learn Spanish already and know a days people in Latin America and other parts don’t want to have to learn a new language in order for people to have to understand us. P.S i didn’t make it up i saw it been talked about in the news … Hispanic news that is ( also put yourself in are position after hundreds of years of being told are natives languages are devil like and we need to be ashamed that we are savages don’t you think one would want to just stand ones ground and say enough is enough im not going to change just because im not like you ? )

Very cute, and you don’t get fathers like that these days.
Actually you DO get fathers like that these days
I was surprised by all the posts where people are pleased to see the father accepts his son.
I think alot of us are conditioned to believe how “most Dads” would react based on what we see in movies or TV. Or maybe from personal experience But how long ago was that?!
My point is Parents are MUCH more accepting of their gay children these days. Or ANYTHING not of the “norm” like cross dressing.
Things are alot different these days then they were 30 years ago or even 10 years ago.
Every generation gets more and more educated and tolerant.
Awww the father still loves his son…. big deal

very touching, i actually cried in the end when his father put the jacket on him and said “cmon lets go” with a smile

cool and spanish lads are great actors, i dont see what the problem is with subs, i dont know if you prefer double movies i dont. the subs are totally accurate in this short.
The problem isn’t the existence of the subs but the fact that they are made in horrible English
But it’s not a big deal as long as you can follow the story. Just sayin’.
sorry josh, im spanish language born and educated in england and i have to say again the subs in this short are correct on the actors parliaments.
But they’re inaccurate as translated to colloquial, or spoken, English. I was able to figure out what they’re supposed to be saying in English.
Cute film. Happily I grew up speaking Spanish so I could ignore the subtitles — they really are awful. Amazing highlights include the phrase ‘dog necklaces’, the sentence ‘I’ve got snots’ and the mysteriously odd name ‘Miss Yamabuqui’ which as far as I can tell is just a transcription of what the translator thought (s)he was hearing. Whoever translated this had little better grasp of Spanish than of English.

i love it, its verry moving how he still stays brave and dosent listen to the insults, why cant a boy dress as a girl without being called a faggot, girls dress as boys all the time and nobody says anything, if i dressed up like a girl i would be laughed at (i wouldent because i dont want to) but i hate how pepol will turn on you for a slight chainge, its not about what you wair, its about who you are!!

I am really sorry you all had to go throught all those disgusting subtitles, it is true my english is not good and I know there are lots of mistranslations, but if it helps here’s a link to the video without subtitles, sorry again I just wanted to share.
http://nosolopoliticaaragonesa.blogspot.com/2008/03/vestido-nuevo-de-sergi-prez.html (I downloaded it using real player)
what its good though, its that the video has already reached lots of people thanks to this post and that Im sure someone else will do a much more better job at translating it now :)
not that disgusting… they were still close enough to follow the story, which is what matters.
Why do I feel alone in this post in thinking this is just exploitative twaddle?
It’s he same ol thing: A film does wonders and earns a lot of money, like the beautiful (and obviously sincere) ‘Ma Vie en Rose’, then suddenly a stream of films about little boys who want to be little girls.
They used the word ‘tacky’, I didn’t.

Come on, Iván, “Ma vie en rose” is a 12 years old classic now, so it’s normal if it hangs in the back of the mind of many other directors. I’m sure we could also find influences from other movies even in a movie as original as “En Tu Ausencia”…
It’s not clear if this is just a short film, or part of a longer movie, and when it was filmed, does anyone know?
Now, if I were the director of that school, I would bring Mario back to the class, ask every child to answer the question “What was wrong?”, explain why each answer is also wrong, and eventually say that, first of all, children should always exercise their critic sense, even when it’s their teachers speaking: the question “what was wrong” in itself was biased, leading to believe that something was wrong. Lastly, the answer is: what was wrong is that none of you helped Mario button the top back of his dress.

=\ that isnt true and its kinda ignorant to say as well.
Actually, I find Americans tend to think people speak English or should at least.. which is silly.

This reminds me of a French/Belgian film called ‘ Ma vie en Rose ‘ – My life in pink… or parts of Billy Helliot’s friend Mickael…
For the rest this Spanish small film is rather well done, also with the other boy erecting the word ‘ maricon ‘ – for the least, this reminds also that if the gay mariage is legal in Spain, not all people find it right and it is as often difficult for young gays in Spain as it is in other ‘ civilized ‘ countries like Spain that is still under the rule of strong religious influence.

Ma, non é certo che parlareve Italiano si potrebbe? Or that I’d rather go in English, alike? Però pocs li fan en Catalá, potser per ignorancia? Skulle vi hellre tala svensk? O cuál sería el problema si lo hiciéramos en Castellano? O melhor, em Portugués? Sed Latine lingua morta est! Let’s not get angry at each other! Josh is not right this time, because that’s not the way people act in Spanish-speaking countries. Some people may do.
I’ve lived in more than 6 Countries that use the language, and most people struggle to speak English. In the end, the only thing that matters is that THIS BLOG is in English! Hе в Русский! Nor German or Italian!
You can see people doing the same no matter their origin! Just read above! By the way: This film is from Spain (a European country), and in particular, from Aragón, so you can’t even expect other Spanish-speaking countries know about it! Anyway… 330 million people in the world speak Spanish and it is the SECOND most spoken language… in 25 countries or so… in Mexico alone, there are 110 million Spanish speakers. I guess this shouldn’t be so controversial.

“Spanish speaking people tend to believe everyone speaks their language conspicuously often” aprende a hablar español . todos los gringos ccreen que deberiamos hablar en ingles y hacer todo en ingles para que entiendan . u should learn spanish.
*sigh* not that I didn’t say that a thousand times before but… *you* come to visit an English site, so why should *I* learn Spanish? It’s just a matter of good behaviour to speak the language of your host instead of assuming he knows every language of the world.

I have seen so many ppl speaking eng. in spanish sites, and the spanish users tend to answer them in eng.
(@Leonard: Josh is German

BTW I always try to speak in the site’s lang, as you can see I speak eng, but also spanish, dutch and a little german.

What is the point to learn kids to be a gay and bee a sex model for men. This must stop!! I hate when people abusing kids to go in pink girl clothes and strip nude for men. That is grows.. Comon people you cannot let men use kids to be sexual model for adults. Kids are free in this world and don’t use this pore little boys in this world to be homosexual. It is not the bible way. Pedophile must be stopped and do not small boys to act like a sex symbol. The boy in the short video in pink girl clothes is cute but not cute for pedophiles. STOP !! ABUSING KIDS!!!!
You read way too much in this.
Yes, you should stop abusing kids by using them in an off-topic rant.
The boy just likes to cross-dress. It’s not a gay trait. He isn’t paraded around for people’s lusts and it’s not against the ‘bible way’.

eso es lo k deverda un padre deve aser cuando su hijo es gay
about 2 years ago
The APA in the Untied states would always try to find a way for this boy to exspesss himself in his feminine state. We recognize and understand as being part of the normal human state, transvestism and trans-sexualism.
The neurosis for these states is in the disability of people outside to humanize this state, to be open and to show these individuals that they are equal in every measure.

When this kind of thing happens in real life it’s usually the boys parents who are responsible, either actively or passively.
Mommy treats her son as a daughter or daddy is sexually exploiting his son, turning him gay.Often the parental dysfunction involves both a screwed up mother and father.
The libertine media and education establishment support and encourage this as a part of a growing social engineering campaign to emasculate men as boys and the world along with them. This also serves the lgbt agenda, helping to indoctrinate and replenish the ranks.
Homosexuality (in all its variations) is not born,it is conditioned.and society is being conditioned likewise.
