I’m so sad to see the Israeli suicide crisis. Please let us publicise the work of Jerusalem Open House at http://joh.org.il/index.php/english an organisation which cares about all Israeli LGBT folk, Arab, Jew, Christian, secular, all backgrounds, I had the great fortune to meet the then director when I visited Israel a few years ago.
I’d also like to publicise the work of Keshet Rabbis at http://keshetrabbis.org/ whose original website I had some chance to help with.
And there is a final thing for LGBT Jewish youth – a paper by a great friend of mine, now sadly dead, which is a learned paper on the Leviticus alleged prohibition, called Dear David: http://www.bmv.org.il/ab/dd.asp a technical read it is worth persevering with. The author, the late Rabbi Simchah Roth was a substantial activist behind the scenes for LGBT rights. This paper was among those responsible for the ordination of openly gay rabbis in the Conservative Judaism movement. It was my privilege to know the rabbi. His work was significant and ran to more than this paper. He was one of those who offered assistance to Jerusalem Open House among his many other commitments

Like other religions, Judaism is divided into factions. The sources you quote are Masorti; if you have an Orthodex background, which is far more common, they will be of little help to you.

I think you are both correct and mistaken. First, though, JOH is not sectarian. So let us remove that form the discussion.
I agree that Keshet Rabbis is, so far as I can tell, Masorti, or Conservative Judaism. Nonetheless, it provides a list of those who will and can help. It is of use to those for whom it is of use.
The paper “Dear David” is a paper. It is a learned opinion. One may agree with it or disagree with it. It provides a rationale against the Leviticine prohbitions

My point was that few Orthodox are going to take the opinion of a Masorti rabbi seriously. As for Progressive Judaism, the discussion has moved on.

Those “teachers” act very dumb and narrowminded.

re: “Study reveals suicide crisis among religious queer teens in Israel”
” But the rate is even higher among religious LGBTs. According to Dr. Chana Bar Yosef, the study’s director, ‘This is a sector that does not get enough notice, and it is a hotbed for suicides that you later hear about after the fact. The suicide rate among the religious homosexuals is the highest because they experience more distress when confronting their families.’ ”
The jews always put themselves in this “enhanced light” that they, quite simply, do no wrong. Why is this? Very simple: “because they are jews.” They are at least half the problem between them and palestines, yet they refuse to acknowledge any of that. Hey, it takes two to make an argument [and tango], right?
It takes another reading of their holy scriptures before they can realize that it’s their religion that makes their young want to [and do] commit suicides. But, they still want the world to think that their religion [and none other] is the cure for all their ills, be it environmental or political.
They can’t see that, like our fundamentalists here, they force everything about their religion onto their children to the point that it makes some (and many LGBT young) physically ill, not to mention psychologically stressed out. And some of you/them will say that’s not true. Yet, look at just one expression of their religion: that stupid skull cap (kippah or yarmulke). What’s the fucking purpose of that other than to tell everyone else “me and my family are jews, so fuck off”.
This season of America’s Got Talent, there was this fairly cute jewish boy who “sang” and played piano. Every single time we saw this boy [on stage], he was wearing this cap. For what fucking purpose? I’ll tell you: It was to tell everyone watching [including the judges] that “me and my family are jews, so you’d better vote in favor of me.” First, I don’t want to see that shit on any stage for entertainment. Second, he was a lousy singer — he screamed more than “sang” and it was 60-70% off key for each and every song he “sang.” And, I do believe that he advanced solely because of that yarmulke and his age/cuteness [I think he is 14]. I couldn’t have been happier when he was finally voted off.
Another example of how the jews think and force everyone else to “believe” that they do no wrong — [read this:] http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/13/nyregion/regulation-of-circumcision-method-divides-some-jews-in-new-york.html?pagewanted=all
This is about jewish circumcision on the “8th day” by a mohel [circumciser]. In a nutshell:
” The mohel lifted the infant’s clothing to expose his tiny penis. With a rapid flick of a sharp two-sided scalpel, the mohel sliced off the foreskin and held it between his fingers. Then he took a sip of red wine from a cup and bent his head. He placed his lips below the cut, around the base of the baby’s penis, for a split second, creating suction, then let the wine spill from his mouth out over the wound. ‘You’re O.K.,’ ”
Anyone else who puts their mouth on/around/over a boy’s penis would be instantly arrested and charged with child molestation and easily convicted and made to spend no less than 50 years in maximum security prison. But, a jew who does it for a living? No problem, he’s jewish so it’s OK and let’s allow him to do more of it.
Jews just refuse to acknowledge their religion has any ill-effects on any part of their society — so much so, they actually insist that because of their religion, all societies are instantly better because of it. Like all brainwashed religious, they are blind to the lies of their religion and therefore are blind to what their religion does to their own offspring (that they revere so much).

and what form of worship do you practice, prey?

“and what form of worship do you practice, prey?” Maybe that would fit Penboy. As in being a prey to something. To experience something unpleasant regularly or be at risk of something unpleasant.

“They weren’t bad people,” she told me. “They just didn’t know about working with children.”
Never mind working with children…… they shouldn’t be anywhere near them.

Well Milkboy: If you don’t think that this comment by Penboy is hate filled to all Jews, then I feel you are also anti-jewish. The purpose of the Yarmulke is to keep their head coverd. It’s a Religious thing with Orthodox Jews. Not all Jews wear this all the time. I went to a Jewish funeral and I was given one to wear. I’am not Jewish, but I went with the tradition out of respect. I wore a cross around my neck, but I wasn’t trying to put anyone down because I’am Christian. To a Jew that skull cap is not stupid. After 6 million Jews whereput to death I thought That Penboys remarks where out of place. You have talked about being respectful to others. Is this the kind of respect you are talking about. If Penboy wishes to make coomment on the suicide crisis among Jewish teens, fine. But at least have respect for the people, not disdain.

Mr. P is often verbose, seldom lucid and this reads more like he’s niggled rather than motivated by real hate. I hope so anyway.
Guys, you either stop these silly personal flame wars or I’ll ban you all from commenting.
Dear Milkboys
Flaming? Not so. And I’m sorry you read it as such.
The topic was suicide of gay teens in Israel.
But P’s paragraphs hardly deal with the topic and read more like a general anti-Jew rant. That’s a close step towards hate as the term ‘Jew’ is racial as opposed to ‘Judaism’.
I would like to think P can clarify and reorder his thoughts in manner that may better get his message across.
After all, what has a boy’s hat on a Cotton Candy TV show got to do with the real seriousness of youth suicide?
Oh, I agree, it was a rant and a half! The charge of antisemitism might not be justified, but it would be understandable.
well Mr Milkboys: It looks Like I’am not the only one who feels P went over board. You seem to call this personal flam wars. I call it correcting a incorrect coment.

There’s a difference in expressing your disagreement and insulting people.
With respect, I can’t see where the insults lie. “Penboy” wrote a longish rant about Jews, most of which had little to do with suicide among young people in Israel. “Michael” was well within his rights to question whether the piece might not be antisemitic.
“Upikinonme” then added that the OP is ‘often verbose and seldom lucid’. This is a comment on his posting style, not his person; it is in other words not personal abuse. He added that “Penboy” was more likely ‘niggled’, i.e. irritated, than motivated by hate. This is an attempt to defend the OP from the charge of antisemitism and is surely quite in order.

You can’t see the insults because the comments containing them were deleted. And be assured that they contained stronger language than your quotes.
This thread has become a little weird.
You attached your censure to both myself and ‘Michael’ and by that action you pointed a finger at us.
Now you say that obnoxious comments have been deleted – presumably by yourself. It is good that the forum is actively moderated but the weirdness arises in that I haven’t a clue as to what you’re alluding to.
No doubt a problem exists but the brevity of your interaction continues to allow suspicion by strangers that either myself or ‘Michael’ are guilty in your eyes of some kind of gross behaviour. Therefore, I strongly object to this circumstance you have now created.
Spill the beans, Sir!
Well yes, I certainly had the impression that “Upikinonme” was one of the ‘guys’ who had been threatened with a posting ban for ‘silly personal flame wars’, with “Michael” perhaps being another.
Thank you ASIFFETA and UPIKINONME. I’am glad that I’am not the only Gay person to comment on Mr.P’s remarks. I believe that this sucide crisis in Israel needs to be taken care of,but not by disrespecting a persons right to be of Jewish faith.

re: Report: U.S. less productive because of LGBT discrimination
The best proof of this is our Military. It was so important for us to repeal that idiotic and hateful DADT. It’s entirely possible (but not saying absolute) that our 9/11 tragedy could have been averted, or at least made less tragic if we hadn’t discharged so many gays as Arabic interpreters in the Military. We don’t know for sure, but discharging them for just being gay when we needed their talents so badly then was just stupid and indirectly, at least, helped the muslims carry out their deeds.

I’d never heard about this, so I looked it up. I found:
‘Between 1998 and 2004, the military discharged 20 Arabic and six Farsi speakers, according to Department of Defense data obtained by the Center for the Study of Sexual Minorities in the Military under a Freedom of Information Act request.
…
‘But others, like Elaine Donnelly of the Center for Military Readiness, a conservative advocacy group that opposes gays serving in the military, said the discharged linguists never should have been accepted at the elite Defense Language Institute in Monterey in the first place.’
“Center for Military Readiness”, the irony drips from the name. It is like something from ’1984′.

“I’d never heard about this, so I looked it up. I found: ‘Between 1998 and 2004, the military discharged 20 Arabic and six Farsi speakers, …”
And if you had continued looking that or similar up, you would have also found that over 300 linguists had been fired/discharged among the various government/intelligence agencies just for being gay — absolutely nothing to do with any of their performances. I’m quite sure that the interpreters and linguists do much of their work “together,” i.e., relying on each others work to help with their work.
It was/is well documented that there were a lot of “chatter” through the many various communication arenas just before 9/11. If we would have had more of those important personnel during this time, some of that “chatter” could have been deciphered and acted on and hopefully at least lessened the tragedy of 9/11. After all, box cutters on aircraft is pretty low tech by simple minded people that unfortunately was ignored by the arrogance of our personnel.
Here’s an interesting site for a book about that very subject (and others, of course): ……. Excerpt of Unfriendly Fire:

That is alas not the case. In the six months before 9/11, the CIA and other intelligence agencies in the United States were warning the president and his security advisors repeatedly that al-Qaida was preparing some lethal attack. They were ignored. Why? The neoconservatives in the US administration were convinced that al-Qaida did not have the competence to represent a major threat. They thought that all the noise, or ‘chatter’ as you call it, was designed to divert attention from Saddam Hussein, who was the real threat.
And there you have it: where the evidence doesn’t agree with your dearly held beliefs, just ignore it and everything will be OK.

I agree that those Arabic interpreters should never have be discharged because they where gay. I don’t believe that there is any faction of the Muslim faith we stand for any homosexual act. I don’t think it would have changed the 9/11 tragedy. We must realize that those Binladen people just don’t like us. They believe that there road is the only road to travel. I do know that we should have had more guards on the American Embassies on the eve of 9/11. Egypt gets 2 billion dollars from American tax payers, and the Egyptian Government sat on there thumbs instead of guarding that Embassy.
