  1. Dutch proposal to search and destroy foreign computers

I see that as next to an act of war. Also I can’t see it as anything but an awesome target for Anonymous if the Dutch do go through with that plan that goes against all civil rights.

      1. that’s what you get with Labour in bed with the Liberals…

I think The Hague wants to be like DC. *shudder*

  2. There’s something fishy going on about that Iranian gender reassignment operations story. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I imagine it has something to do with same-sex attraction not working out so well for folks living there.

    1. The word is that by no means all who seek an operation are actual transsexuals. If you are an effeminate man or a masculine woman, it’s a way to ‘normalise’ your situation.

  3. Re: Holland’s Desire to Attack Foreign Computers

AN ACT OF WAR! I guess America would be wrong to send a JDAM into the heart of their Parliament?

  4. Re: Screening Jews

Really? Aren’t we past all this irrational hate? Did we not learn anything from WWII

  5. Re: U.S. Supreme Court and Gay Marriage

It’s about god damn time. But also realize that the court has proven before (2000 Presidential Election) to be swayed by the hidden powerful few. If they pass a law against gay marriage or same sex unions, that will be the end of it.

But if their decision is for Gay Marriage that will be the end of it. I wonder which state will separate from the union first?

  6. re: US Supreme Court will hear same-sex marriage cases
But also realize that the court has proven before (2000 Presidential Election) to be swayed by the hidden powerful few. If they pass a law against gay marriage or same sex unions, that will be the end of it.

You’re so right and don’t forget 2010’s “Citizens United” making corporations as “people” with “free speech” (so long as they are right-wing and spending for such).

But (and this could be a big ‘but’) with same-sex marriage being slowly, but steadily recognized positively throughout the western world, I [want/need] to feel and guess that even all 5 of these conservative Justices may not be as hard nosed as we think they are now. John Roberts has shown a decent crack in his right-wing armor lately with the “Obamacare” package and he does have a huge influence with the other 4. But, of course that doesn’t mean he will absolutely do things “our way.”

And there’s the “standing” issue with Prop. 8. I had thought it was resolved in the 9th Court but SCOTUS has mentioned it as a “condition” to be considered. If they toss it out because of “standing” (and Calif becomes the 10th state to legalize gay marriage), they’ll revert back to the infamous 2004 “Under god” ruling because of “standing” and basically chicken out of ruling on the actual Constitutional grounds and merit of the case. For them, giving one State (CA) gay “rights” is better than having to give the entire 50 States full gay rights (a “loss” they can handle right now in history). But, in this case, with public opinion becoming even more accepting of gays and gay marriage, SCOTUS will have a much more difficult time ignoring the 14th Amendment just to appease the religious right in the way they did in 2004. The religious Justices are absolutely loathe to rule against anything religious if they can in any way find a “back door” to keep religion in its status quo position of our government.

Also, with public opinion swaying and Obama’s Administration refusing to defend DOMA, again, they’ll have a hard time getting past the 14th Amendment. I know they’ll try (at least 4 of them) but hopefully the “prevailing wind” will allow them to make the right decision and avert what could very well erupt into major protests across this country. [And while they're at it, they need to find that the House of Representatives defending DOMA is UNCONSTITUTIONAL as well -- but, of course, I won't hold my breath on that one.]
