    1. If your primary source of news is a site that exists to share pictures of teenage boys then you need to sort it out.

      I like the mix :)

    3. ..that guy that told gays to kill themselves has resigned. Mostly as a result of a pretty significant campaign by internet sites, which led to national media coverage, to get the guy out of office.
Josh, while I appreciate that a lot of your political stuff is here to stir up the OMG OUTRAGE, it would be really, really GREAT if you would include some positive stuff and some avenues to affect change here as well. We, the people on the internets, got a hick asshole fired from his job. And a US district attorney stalking a college kid got fired, because people created facebook pages, petitions, published email and mail addresses.
So, please, as you continue to “fight”, maybe you could use this space to give some air to ways TO fight, including some news about things that have worked and maybe a success once in a while.

      Just my two cents…

      1. Are there really that many positive results? Yes one man got fired, but there’s still that little thing we call the republican party. Y’know, the one set to win the next set of elections?

        1. So, because of a national election, forget anything positive on a local level? Dismiss the one or two positive things because the big bad Republicans are out there? How is that any way to approach things? How about this:
Here’s hoping that life just got better for a few kids in Arkansas, who now understand that MAYBE some people out there in the world have their back, and MAYBE some asshole in podunk Illinois will keep their homophobic mouth shut so they won’t get 30,000 emails dumped in their boss’ mailbox.
I think it’s really important to highlight that fuck yeah, you have to fight. And fuck YEAH sometimes you WIN.

What’s wrong with wanting to hear about the wins every once in a while?

          2. Mister, I’m proud to say that my first comment on this site was to say how awesome your comment was.

        2. i just watched 60 minutes and i was getting mad at all the immature arguments made and wrong perceptions about people. its really starting to annoy me.

and saying “republicans” are the problem with the world to stop positive progression is just a wrong perception. its like summing up all americans into one definition.

america is a place where alot of different people with different backgrounds and views live– thats all there is to it!

and republicans and democrats are the same thing. a bunch of different people who share enough goals to try and move those forward. doesnt mean all republicans are trying to burn gays at the stake. in fact most republicans are being voted in on economic issues, not social issues.

          1. “in fact most republicans are being voted in on economic issues, not social issues.”

I take issue with that and will say that is 99% bullshit. Here’s why: Yes, our Republicans always TOUT “less spending” and [and here's one I really get a laugh over:] “less government intervention.” But the truth is that is nothing more than a smokescreen.

BOTH [Republicans] Reagan AND Bush brought up our deficits to the highest amounts in our country’s history. And it was Clinton [Democrat] who brought Reagan’s deficit back down to a SURPLUS. Yes, Obama [Democrat] has had to bring the deficit even higher — but ONLY because he has to deal with that idiot Bush’s HUGE war deficit and the first TARP [Bush's first bank/investment bailout]. Republicans just use the economics as a smoke screen so they can get what they REALLY want — far right social reforms and a good portion of that is quite simply: ANTI-gay (marriage, military, just to name a couple).

And the “less government intervention” crap? Give me a break! They are the FIRST to have the government into all of our bedrooms and social outlets — not to mention take over all the religious venues and make it the laws of the land. All this bible crap to be introduced into every federal, state and local government buildings and lifestyles, everything anti-gay they can come up with, and wasting so much taxpayer money on asinine things like bringing to court and jailing everyone who even is caught with the smallest toke of marijuana or other recreational drug. While I can agree with going after the sellers and makers of some of the drugs, I don’t think we need to care about what some idiot will put into his body as long as he’s not forcing any of it onto anyone else. I don’t care if he overdoses.

For Republicans, the “economic issues” is nothing more than a smoke screen for their far-right beliefs and unfortunately, they are able to convince the less intelligent during each election cycle.

    4. “And a US district attorney stalking a college kid got fired”
I saw the video about him. If he really got fired, then I’m so glad. His superiors should have reacted and fired him long before CNN’s interview with him but I’m glad that was the catalyst in getting him out of public office. I hope the student’s lawsuit still goes through and is able to collect a lot of money from that religious idiot. Thanks for letting us know about him.

And I read in my newspaper today that the guy that told gays teens to commit suicide had quit, not fired (which I sort of hope is true so he won’t be able to collect unemployment funds).

      1. The district attorney is on a leave of absence and will face “disciplinary action” when he returns. That’s fired.

The Arkansas guy resigned because he was forced to. He was an elected official and would have faced impeachment, which no one wanted.

        1. That’s good on both counts. Just hoping those sleasebags aren’t allowed to receive any benefits and BOTH of them stay unemployed for a long time – enough to finally [hopefully] realize what they’ve done (if that’s possible for them).

    5. RE: US school official tells gay teens to kill themselves

The ONLY true thing he said is: “My kids will have solid christian beliefs. See it [christian beliefs] infects everyone.”

And this is the best ending for that insidious story: “Human Rights Campaign president Joe Solmonese said: ‘McCance shouldn’t be allowed near children [even his own], let alone managing their education. We call for his immediate resignation from the school board.’ ” [Which appears he may have done.]

    6. It’s sad to see Britain and my own country always in this mix. The US gives police far too many protections, and the British government give themselves too many rights. I do have a solution though: give cops Segways, BB guns (so they have something to hold on to), and a few tons of pot.

      1. 99% of perceptions of police and the judicial system in both countries are wrong, or viewed in some dumbass outlook because they dont understand how the world works

        1. 57.5%. I also like making up numbers. Also, you can not argue with any sense of sanity that giving police almost unlimited rights is a good thing, same as for any group of people. But especially groups of people with guns. There are good cops and bad cops, and adding restrictions to how the police work only affects bad cops as the good ones aren’t violating those restrictions anyway. A good restriction based on an article on here would be that if someone is trying to save someone else’s life, you don’t taze the person who is trying to help and let the shooting victim die, no matter what that person did.

    7. The freedom of (HATE) speech needs to be sorted out in the US. It’s not working!

On the other note, DO NOT stop posting these political posts. They are great, and bring to light the injustices that continue to occur in a society we like to think has come so far. Not far enough, and frankly only by being informed and energized to stand up and fight the evil can we make a difference. And I’m sure when a country approves gay marriage or whatever it will make it onto the post, so there’s the ‘positive’ stuff – in the meantime just continue to post REALITY, which isn’t that great or fair.

      1. “The freedom of (HATE) speech needs to be sorted out in the US. It’s not working! ”

Actually, it IS working for pretty much everything …. as well as things that may not even be considered “[vocal/written] speech” That’s why (whether we like it or not) some people are able to give “hate” speech. Do you not understand the concept of “freedom of speech?” It gives you freedom to express it, regardless of whether someone will like it or not with only a few exceptions (like yelling “FIRE” in a theater or other crowded place, etc.).

I don’t like the anti-gay speech in any form either, but they have to be allowed.

        1. When hardcore Islamists spread extremist hatred only through words and get people to commit suicide terrorist attacks are you still going to say its ok? Words are actions too, they should have consequences / be controlled to at least some degree.

          1. No, of course not. Sorry, but I thought it was obvious I was only talking about OUR (USA) free speech laws. I don’t consider anything about Islam or Muslin religion to reflect anything remotely about freedoms — it’s all about brainwashing to the Nth degree, pure and simple.

Everything about Islamists in my mind is nothing more that stupidity taking over countries just for the power of it. Your are totally correct about who & what they are. Suicide terrorists are just a product of all that brainwashing since they were 2 years old.

    8. You know – I don’t care which hole you want to poke or who you want to poke. Your hatred towards America is ridiculous.

Maybe if you lived in a real country that mattered you would have a better handle on things.

Gays can choose to be gay all they want but when you dress in a tutu and prance down main street, then it is wrong.

      1. you think the people who go out in public wearing whatever they want got what they deserved?

and explain the connection to american hatred to that

and if your straight/homophobic what are you doing on this blog? scared of your own possible feelings?

    9. Yes Chris when I was 12 I woke up 1 morning, despite not really even knowing what gay meant or was or could be, decided to be one.

If you believe in god then you believe he made you the way you are, and that means he gave you a brain. I’m sure he also intended for you to use it once in a while.

    10. Chris:

Gays can choose to be gay all they want but when you dress in a tutu and prance down main street, then it is wrong.

Gays choosing to be gay…………… oh dear :(
