Porn?

The last time I posted a nifty video here there evolved a discussion in the comments whether there should be porn on milkboys or not. I never wanted milkboys to become one of the countless porn-only blogs and therefore I never posted more than one of these videos every two or three months. On the other hand I do think that both sex and porn are good and healthy parts of our lives and that is regardless of the age of the viewer.

Over the last 20 years our society became more and more hysterical about how seeing people having sex might harm kids and teenagers and in further consequence our life in general became more prudish. Even teenagers from 1900 would laugh about how kids nowadays wear two swimsuits instead of just hopping into the water naked – not even to mention how keeping away every information about sex from teens also prevents them to learn about sexually transmitted diseases, birth control and other things even more important than the fact that no kid should be ashamed for her or his naked body.

When I started the very first incarnation of milkboys a few years ago I was a minor myself and neither back then nor nowadays I can come up with a single reason why & how pornographic content would be capable to harm anyone — quite the opposite. That’s why I didn’t mind to throw some sexy content into the mix of this blog every now and then.  But I’d like to hear your opinion on this nonetheless so please feel free to vote in the poll below and/or leave a comment. Thanks :)

  1. Well if anything Josh, this subject has stirred up a lot of dialog, and what better place to have such a dialog than Milkboys.

  2. it´s fine like it´s now, i wouldn´t mind more though.
i´m 19 and i´ve watched loads of porn since i was about 13. i don´t think it harmed me in any way o.o
i find people weird who are uptight about porn >.>

  3. I don’t see a problem with the few times porn pops up on the site; and if anyone truly has a problem with it I don’t believe anyone is forced to watch it.

    1. even if you dont watch it or not, its still attracting a different audience, and its taking posts away from the other good posts.

but i do like the amount that there is now

  4. I think the only major concern for those of us who frequent this site is that the increase in pornography will only incriminate you (Josh) if for whatever reason authorities get on your case. I personally don’t mind pornography, but I would hate for this site to be blocked/banned based on an increase of it. If you know you can post porn without consequences, then by all means, post what you wish.

  5. Josh, you pointed out something I have constantly tried to get people to understand. Since 1973, the issue of Porn being able to harm or cause people to harm, was settled. It does not. A healthy respect for our bodies, sex and pornography is as desirable as healthy relationships or a healthy view of eating. Sex is integral to our being healthy physically, and mentally.
What is harmful is this very hysteria you point to. And that comes from fear, stirred up by people with an agenda to press their own values on the rest of us. We should all be able to live together, but many are too indoctrinated or scared to be able to ignore what they find personally offensive, and demand laws to hide it from them and everyone. Children have just become the easiest leverage on the legal system. A tragedy because it is going to backfire inevitably, and the victims will be children.

  6. hey josh
keep it the way as it is…
when you feel like posting porn do it…
    just don’t think about it…

its just naked people making funny noises and scrunching up their faces

  7. Génial !
J’y avait pas penser. Une banane et une fraise.
Je le ferait en réunion, ça va détendre atmosphere.

  8. If it wasn’t for porn I would never have figured out my sexuality so I do think it’s helping rather than hurting. The level now is good in my opinion.

  9. I think that you do a really good job, in general, of balancing everything. Actually I really admire how well you balance the work that you put on this blog and your other blogs.

The only thing I want is fair warning that a post is going to contain porn — so something like a more/click through option when you do post it.

  10. Josh,
I remember once upon a time “porn” photos, or young nude content in general, was visible only to registered users – might that not be a compromise?

  11. Why should you have to sign in? If you don’t want others (at school, work) to see, then you can just visit the site at home.

    1. It’s not about that.

It’s about making sure that ppl who do NOT want to see the porn, do not stumble across it by accident.

And ofc there are some legal issues (18+ and stuff), but who cares bout that.

      1. It can’t be that hard to just scroll past those few posts if you’re super sensitive. =)

(Is it illegal to watch porn if you’re under 18 in some countries? That’s not really Josh’s problem though.)

  12. I wouldn’t change it, it’s great like it is now. That’s why I keep up with this site.

  13. Josh, This may be the best site of its type on the net. Don’t trim away what you do to so well or change it to suit someone’s taste. Thank you for taking all the time it must take to keep this site up. I consider you a friend I’ve never met and yet I somehow know you and I want that connection with you and those here I read and share with to continue.
I agree younger kids are getting more and more prudish, but are definitly nowhere near as healthy in their sexual attitudes as those a bit older. We can blame a LOT of influences but they are from those a LOT older than us and we meed more of your type of influence. Thanks again.

  14. The picture is cool :p
And if people don’t like the beauty of boys, neither seeing some naked body some times, well, they don’t have to come here…
This is seriously one of the best site i know, and you don’t have to change it to please some people , stay as u are <33

  15. And I believe most people have no idea how great it feels to swim without any clothes on ;P

  16. As one of the 3 (of 32) correspondents who made negative comments about your Feb 18 posting of a boy masturbating, I clarify my position.

I am not against pornography, per se, but I didn’t think it appropriate for Milkboys.

Having read through the site, its comments, contributions and links, from Day 1, I was surprised that such a clip was posted. From what had been written before, by you, Josh, and others, I’d been led to believe the direction of the site was more for lovers of éphèbes than pornography.

The content of previous postings, plus, usually, the high level of debate, even – most surprisingly for me as an old ‘un – from those claiming to have just entered their teens – I find refreshing and interesting.

That said, Josh, it is your site to do as you wish and not be influenced by outside forces, bigots or prudes. I shall not interfere again, but will continue to “look in” from time to time to see the direction you decide to take your site.

Meanwhile, I shall continue to plod away at my own blog.

Good luck with your site, Josh, wherever you decide to take it. And a healthy and happy life to all your visitors. <3

  17. The question shouldn’t be whether porn or not – but rather which kind or style of pornographic art to be published. We seem to be drowning in an inflation of commercialized, degrading and humiliating porn already that reduces it’s models to mere objects of a disgusting “striptease for money” mainstream.

Showing artwork that documents a playful and sincere struggle for self-established identity as a thoroughly refreshing work in progress, of course including the depiction of the naked body in arousal or in action, to my mind is something we all could be happy to have a lot more of…

Concerning the high standard of aesthetics on this blog, I am quite confident in it’s further development.

  18. Re #23
As long as the porn received a ‘Josh Seal of Approval’ for quality, its fine for Milkboys.

  19. I don’t think minors seeing porn or smut is a big deal. I don’t think they should be shielded from this just because they’re under 18 [or 16 in some Countries] They will see it eventually and shielding them from things is just making their parents happy. You cannot expect to live for your family and not yourself, that is like being programmed a certain way in my opinion.

Anyways on to the question – my only concern with milkboys showing more porn/smut is that you will get in trouble and have to shut down the website. Other wise I don’t mind at all as long as it isn’t taking over the site because I do enjoy the other things on milkboys. ^^

  20. Given the whole spectrum of posts you cover, I don’t think the occasional porn piece really detracts from the site. As far as nude pieces go, I’d prefer stills to video clips, but I think you’re doing a good job.

  21. I genuinely trust your eye on such things. There has always been an instinctive level of taste at Milkboys, as well as a hip connection to the “movement.” I know you will not overburden the blog with porno any more than you would overburden it with politics. You have a light touch among a minefield–a rare talent.

As to making yourself “more vulnerable” to persecution, let’s face it: pornography has nothing to do with the persecution. In the eyes of the persecutors, the mere intimation of desire is enough. I think Blogger has proved that to everyone, right?

  22. I just sent this post to a bunch of my friends as I agree with most of what you’re saying here and the way you’ve presented it is awesome.

  23. your blog is the most suitable blog 4 teenboys, the porn content fit it just well, i prefer more actually, thnx
