This sort of thing is very necessary in helping me combat my natural predisposition for extreme cynicism where my fellow human mammals are concerned. This is the kind of thing we all need to see more of.

Wow. What if An wasn’t out to anyone except his lover? This worked fine for the boy withthe balloons and flowers, but given the ‘right’ wrong circumstances, this kind of sexual terrorism could have had catatstrophic side effects. I hope An and his BF are able to live happily ever after, with the smiling approval of their families and government.
Was publicly outing An a bold way of forcing him to find courage an act of love? Or an act of surpassing selfishness on the part of ‘balloon & flower” boy?

He did wear a rainbow bracelet. So I think he was out.

Cute and uplifting ….. and with those balloons, only in the Philippines7. :-) What’s sad about this is he has to recognize that they still had to7 “hide” their relationship to most people.
Be careful watching videos like this in public places if you tend to tear up (like I just did). :-)

I stand corrected. After watching it again and listening more closely (and after the first subtitle), I definitely agree with you. Thanks for pointing that out. :)

Wow Vietnam has changed. Good for them. I love the reaction of the crowd. They were all so happy. In the west you would have had cries of faggot etc. Yet we continue to try and push our values onto such nations.
Poor An, he wasn’t expecting that at all. What a way to be outed. Or was he. The crowd seemed to know what was going on. Perhaps they were often seen together. Great it had a happy ending.

This really made me cry. An amazing and emotional clip from a place in the world where you wouldn’t expect to see this kind of tolerance. Maybe An was ‘outed’ to some, but I think it’s obvious a large part of that crowd were clued in and knew what was going to happen. When Balloon Boy first walks into the cafeteria, there’s clapping and cheering by a lot of the students (mostly girls?). “An Map… I love you” (Crowd cheering and clapping loudly). Also the camera work was very professional in my opinion. I think An was the only one who was surprised, who was slow to stand up and at first started to leave. A suspenseful moment as the camera quickly panned back to Balloon Boy. Thankfully An changed his mind and returned. This shows love knows no bounds, and no matter who you love, no one should condemn you for it.

I so agree Davedoy. You should never be condemn for love that you have for someone. I’am not just talking about the love we should have for one another, but that deep special love you have for that one and only special person in your life. I don’t know if that hate that some have for people that some just don’t understand, well ever change. I only hope that someday I’ll live to see this change.
