Song for Jamey
Sacha Sacket, who is part of the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles, grew up in Iran. He was bullied and isolated and could relate very well to the story of Jamey, a 14-year-old gay teen who took his own life after being bullied for years. His Song for Jamey is quite haunting. It’s available on Spotify.

Thank you, sincerely and from the bottom of my heart Josh, for one of the most wonderful pieces I’ve ever heard. The whole song was moving, the artist delivered, as you say, a haunting and yet an obviously heartfelt eulogy to Jamie, and when the song was over – it hit me like a truck that yet another poor boy’s life…..was over as well, and I’ve yet to stop crying.
Despite the fact that I’m a mess at the moment, the song was beautiful, and I thank you for your continually amazing posts. I mean it Josh, you rock and thank you once again.
To Sacha, thank you.
To Jamie, R.I.P. my young friend.

Jameys tumblr account is still available to read: http://hausofjamey.tumblr.com/
There you could see really heart breaking videos that made me cry. So sad that nobody could helped him when he was in desperate need.
And what is even more sad is that there are many many boys and girls in the same situation and we do not know where until we read it from news. So sad, so sad..

This song is so sad. Jamie was trying so hard to be upbeat but instead was beaten down all the way. He died less than 3 weeks after school started when the bullying got relentless. A year and a half later it still resonates. There are a lot of tributes to him on Youtube, and his Twitter account is a narrative of how he was handling it all.
It began long before Matthew Shepard and will continue long after Jamie Rodemeyer unless the world comes to realize that gay people are entitled to live their lives the way they want.

Beautiful piece, very moving.
So many parents don’t monitor their kid’s tumblr accounts or any of the other outlets kids use as a means of self-expression nowadays. So often, when a kid comes under my purview, a brief Google search will reveal ample evidence of crying out that their parent(s) missed because they didn’t know where to look.

Based on some of the stuff I saw on his Tumblr, his parents may have been part of the problem.

Jamey posted just week before hanging himself:
Wish i went to hogwarts
already started school and they’re already making fun of me again. :/
@ladygaga i need you, being bullied already. :c
I JUST WANNA BE ME :’c

And this is what he has posted just three days before the suicide:

I mean, this person was increadibly fragile, tender, sensitive and desperate for love and support.
Maybe Jamie Rodemeyer’s story is the most heartbreaking of this kind (though all of them are terrible).

Agree on parents issue; they should have seen what happens on Jamie’s Tumblr account:

This was 13th September, five days before the suicide. Jamie’s state required immediate intervention. He should have NEVER be left alone since at least that video. Parents should have also banned him from going to school, where he still was bullied.
When a person so fragile, you have to take every effort to guard him/her. Even little “laugh” on gay isses kills.
Though I am not sure that those parents could help, considering:

exactly, I got the same impression, that his parents were part of his problem. His dad had problems accepting Jamey as he was. And there were ordinary fights in the family. But of course this theme was not touched in public media. All the blame went on bullies. As the main troubles came from them. But now it doesn’t matter.

Suicide is an act of displaced anger. I cannot help but wonder how much of that anger was felt towards his father.

I am lost for words after listening to that stunning & haunting song.
I can only say it was sad to read the heartfelt comments above but shows people really do care.
Thanks Josh and for the link to the news item.

That was truly beautiful and very moving as Dashiell had said. I sincerely hope to hear this on the airways.
