Few use the term, but if you’re attracted to teen minor boys, you’re an ephebophile . Pedophile if you’re attracted to pre-teen boys. And yes, you would be fine to be a male coach and coach girls basketball or volleyball…but you better not be gay and coaching boy’s anything except glee club. Because as we all know, boys in glee clubs and choir are fags…..;-)

Let me add to that. Pedophilia, medically if not legally, refers to the sexual attraction to pre-pubescent human beings, whether male or female, 12 days old or 12 years old. It’s the pre-pubescence that determines the category not the local age-of-consent or how yucky a relationship makes the rest of us feel.
A 97-year-old lucky enough to be doing the nasty with a 17-year-old is not a” pedophile” (and, no, I’m not 97 nor am I doing anything with any 17 year olds). It’s just that this word (like the word “terrorist”) is misused to the point where it no longer as any meaning at all.

When I used the word “pedo” I was playing with the very common public misuse of the term. And yes the general public continues to associate gays with any form of child sexual involvement. Pedo is now a street term. One syllable and fits in well with all the other monosyllables and grunts you find in american street lingo.

Yeah I know, but the term ‘gay’ is used on the street incorrectly as well. As in “Dude, that’s gay.” I’ve never heard the word ephebophile even pronounced by anyone around here, including abuse/crisis counselors.

Strange that people used my comment to start a thread about pederasty, while I used boys in a generic way, to specify male individuals of young age… Just like people use PlayBoy’s “girls”.
