This Lad just became a Millionaire

One of Yahoo’s newest employees is a 17-year-old high school student in Britain. As of Monday, he is one of its richest, too. That student, Nick D’Aloisio, a programming whiz who wasn’t even born when Yahoo was founded in 1994, sold his news-reading app, Summly, to the company on Monday for a sum estimated to be around the $30 million mark. Yahoo said it would incorporate his algorithmic invention, which takes long-form stories and shortens them for readers using smartphones, in its own mobile apps, with D’Aloisio’s help.

“I’ve still got a year and a half left at my high school,” he said in a telephone interview on Monday. But he will make arrangements to test out of his classes and work from the Yahoo office in London, partly to abide by the company’s new and much-debated policy that prohibits working from home.

Wonderwear Wednesday *39

Everyone longing for a peek into Milo’s underwear will be happy to have their wish finally fulfilled with the photo below. Alas it might be the the last picture of him for a while since he eventually gave up fighting the moral police over at Tumblr who kept nuking his blogs for looking like he might be underage even though he’s well over 18. Here’s what he posted on his blog yesterday:

This is the end, this is where I say goodbye ;_;

I will probably disappoint a lot of you now, but I have decided  to stop posting. I don’t really enjoy it anymore and I will get banned again and again. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for all your sweet messages and kind words in the past few years. I also want to use this opportunity to tell the tumblr staff that they can suck my dick.

I might return some day with a new tumblr but i don’t know when. maybe this summer, maybe next year, maybe in 10 years or maybe never. I will keep this blog up for a few more weeks so everyone can see this last post and maybe say goodbye.  As this last post, Ill finally give you guys a peek of that what you all wanted to see so badly….

Thanks everyone for the awesome time I had, I wouldn’t post anything if it wasn’t for you guys. Also, big thanks and hugs to Josh for posting so many of my pictures on milkboys. That’s also the place to stay in touch with me. You can find my profile here, and my thread here.

Feed on!

Google has announced that they will shut down Google Reader in a few months. I know that a some thousand people are still using Google Reader to follow our RSS feed so I wanted to make sure that you find a new place to do so before Google takes their reader offline on July 1.

One way to keep updated about milkboys is following us on Twitter. If you don’t like Twitter you can use one of the many alternatives to Google Reader. Quite a few people seem to like Feedly, personally I prefer The Old Reader. Some other companies, like Digg, have also announced that they’re working on a feed reader so there are probably some more going live very soon. Let us know in the comments if you know any other good alternatives.

The “Gay God” attracts Robbers & Cultists

The modern revivers of the cult of an ancient Roman gay god have claimed that Egyptian authorities are ignoring widespread looting of the Egyptian city named for him. The Roman emperor Hadrian declared his male lover Antinous a god in the year 130, after he fell into the river Nile and drowned at the age of 19. Hadrian founded the city Antinoopolis in Egypt nearby the site of his lover’s death and established annual games in his memory.

Hadrian also named a star after him which was said to have appeared after his death. Temples for Antinous were established all over the Roman Empire during Hadrian’s reign but were torn down by Christians after the cult was outlawed by the Christian Emperor Theodosius. Many of the surviving statues of Antinous ended up in the Vatican Museum where they were seen by the artist Raphael who adopted him as a model for male perfection in painting angels.

The cult of Antinous was revived in 2002 and its followers now say that the ruins of Antinoopolis have been left to looters while officials turn a blind eye. “Nobody cares because Antinous is the god of gays, and they are embarrassed to mention that fact,” said Antonyus Subia, head priest of the Hollywood Temple of Antinous. “Even the few news articles which have appeared about the destruction of Antinoopolis fail to mention Antinous at all.”

Subia said that the ruins of Antinoopolis were being systematically looted by tomb robbers and blamed poor law enforcement by the new Egyptian Government. “This is our gay heritage which is being destroyed,” he said.

The Pope’s still awful

Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, a 76-year-old Argentinean, was chosen as the first Latin American pope on Wednesday. He will lead the world’s 1.2 billion Catholics as Pope Francis. While his selection may be historic, it may also mean more of the same when it comes to gay rights in the Catholic Church.

Bergoglio is a conservative who is not only anti-gay marriage and anti-gay adoption but possibly involved in dreadful crimes and scandals. He has described same-sex marriage as the work of the devil and a “destructive attack on God’s plan.” He has also said that gay adoption is a form of discrimination against children. In 2010, he championed against a bill for same-sex marriage and gay adoption, according to the National Catholic Register.

“The Argentine people will face a situation whose outcome can seriously harm the family," he wrote to the four monasteries in Argentina. "At stake is the identity and survival of the family: father, mother and children. At stake are the lives of many children who will be discriminated against in advance, and deprived of their human development given by a father and a mother and willed by God. At stake is the total rejection of God’s law engraved in our hearts.”

He described it as a "‘move’ of the Father of Lies who seeks to confuse and deceive the children of God" and asked for lawmakers to "not act in error." In John 8:44, the Father of Lies is the devil.

Argentina approved same-sex marriage in 2010, making it the first Latin American country to legalize the union, the New York Times previously reported. The country is also progressive when it comes to contraception. President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner has promoted free contraception and artificial insemination, the Associated Press notes. In the past, Francis has clashed with the Argentinean government over his stance on these issues.

GLAAD President Herndon Graddick responded to the election of the new pope saying:

For decades the Catholic hierarchy has been in need of desperate reform. In his life, Jesus condemned gays zero times. In Pope Benedict’s short time in the papacy, he made a priority of condemning gay people routinely. This, in spite of the fact, that the Catholic hierarchy had been in collusion to cover up the widespread abuse of children within its care. We hope this Pope will trade in his red shoes for a pair of sandals and spend a lot less time condemning and a lot more time foot-washing.
